Events
Events are commonly incorporated into PR campaigns to get the attention of specific audiences, raise public awareness and generate media attention. Events play a key role in portraying a specific message directly to the media, public or client.
Strut PR & Events can help you to create your own event. We start by creating a theme or event concept and go through the various phases of staging an event. We can arrange everything including catering, entertainment, special equipment requirements and security.
If the event requires media attendance Strut PR & Events will gain maximum exposure for our client’s requirements through TV, print, radio and on-line presence.
Examples of events we have recently managed include…
Sydney Theatre
In January 2004 Karen Farrell was responsible for the extensive publicity campaign to launch the $42 million Sydney Theatre. Guests at the opening night included a legion of Australia’s most respected actors, luminaries and politicians.
One aspect of the campaign included coordinating and overseeing a press call for Sydney Theatre Company’s Artistic Director Robyn Nevin and the then NSW Premier Bob Carr to address media prior to opening night. Media attendance at the press call was impressive and media coverage was outstanding.
ABC TV’S Australian Story's 10th Anniversary
To honor the landmark 10th birthday of ABC TV’s respected Australian Story program a celebratory event was held at the ABC’s headquarters in Ultimo, Sydney. Organisation included supervising all aspects of the event - from overseeing a guest list of 400 people, to arranging catering, entertainment and transforming a common workplace environment into an ambient party scene.
Outback House - High Tea Launch for Reality TV Series
To introduce the much anticipated reality TV series, Outback House, Karen Farrell managed the launch of the series at the historical Vaucluse House in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
In keeping with the 19th Century period in which Outback House was set, the launch was themed as a ‘high tea’ event, providing all the resplendent trimmings that such an occasion offers. The most minute detail was catered for – from sourcing authentic three tiered cake stands and accompanying Royal Doulton crockery – to organising a tour of Vaucluse House for media - to executing the timely running of the evening.
The launch was a great success and praised by Harvey Shore, TV Columnist for ENCORE Magazine and Senior PR Tutor for Thomson Education Direct, in his May 2005 News & Views column as:
“The ABC threw a very good party to launch this show to the media, at Mr Wentworth's classic Victorian mansion Vaucluse House. They didn’t overdo it; filling the tea room with all 16 cast members in their period dress plus the crew and sundry media guests, serving them scones and tea, and screening a preview which drew shouts of joy from the cast who had not yet seen themselves on TV. It made the atmosphere at the preview brilliantly spontaneous and evocative - a tribute to publicist Karen Farrell.”
